Biotechnology is an area of great potential for the future of Mankind: it is likely to be the dominant science of the 21st century, but only with the consent of society.

Climate change has become synonymous with global warming, which in turn is regarded as due mainly to Man's influence. That the climate is changing is irrefutable; that atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is rising is scientific fact. However, there are serious gaps in the science which links the two directly, and legitimate arguments to be made as to the whether global resources are better used in an attempt to control climate or to adapt to its changes.

Non-food crops are a largely-untapped resource which will become increasingly important in the supply of renewable raw materials.
